Advance Credit Union - Strategic Business Development Planner 

Advance Credit Union is recruiting a Strategic Business Development Partner. The role requires you to take a lead role in supporting the delivery of Advance Credit Union's strategic goals to increase affordable lending to low income households in Birmingham and Solihull and provide financial products that help with house accommodation.

Strategic focus includes:

  • Development and implement a marketing strategy that delivers growth in membership and the take up of a diverse range of credit union product including payroll deduction schemes and rent accounts
  • Extend Advance CU's customer service offer through project managing the development of a second full service outlet in the credit union's operating area
  • Develop strategic relationships and partnerships with key organisations including local employers and housing associations to support growth priorities.

The lending and collections officer is a key role within the credit union. you will be responsible for providing an excellent level of member service in a timely and efficient manner. As the Lending and Collections Officer, you will oversee the day to day lending and collections activities and will act to provide mentoring and support for other staff in their duties in these areas. You will have experience of rapid manual loans decisions in a high demand, busy office environment.

Contract Permanent (subject to a probationary period)
Hours: Full time - flexible
Location: Warton, Preston
Salary: £21,000 - £25,000 a year

Gloucestershire Credit Union- Loans Officer


The Loans Officer will manage the lending related business of the credit union to maximise the loan portfolio and to minimise delinquency. The main activity is to undertake the loans assessment procedure, ensuring compliance with the law, regulations and the policies of the Credit Union.

The post holder will also provide reports and analysis of all loans, including those which have failed the assessment process, to the Loans Committee to support development and refinement of the lending policy.

LASER Credit Union - Administration/Finance worker (2 posts)


As Administration and Finance Worker you will be the first point of contact for existing and potential new customers wishing to access LASER’s services.

As well as providing information on all our products and services, you will assist customers with the completion of relevant documentation, process loan application forms and ensure that accurate financial records are maintained. Maintaining LASER’s financial and administration systems, whilst at all times following the organisation’s procedures and providing high levels of member services, will be a key aspect of this role.

To be successful in this role you will be an individual who contributes effectively to a team environment as well as having the ability to work independently, who is able to communicate effectively and explain financial information clearly. Experience of working in a similar role in a busy team and having a keen eye for detail and accuracy are essential, as are good customer service and complaint handling skills. Knowledge and experience of credit unions and dealing with financially excluded and vulnerable customers would be advantageous, but is not essential.

We are flexible in our approach to the working hours for this post and are accepting applications from those wishing to work anywhere between 12 and 32 hours (we may fill each post with two people). Please indicate in your covering letter the minimum and maximum hours you wish to work.

New Central Credit Union - General Manager

New Central Credit Union is a financial co-operative providing affordable loans and savings based in Coventry city centre. We currently have over 4500 members and assets in excess of £2m.

We are seeking a full time General Manager to lead a growth programme to extend the range of services we offer and the take up of our services throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. You will have full responsibility for the operational management of the credit union and will be registered under the regulators’ Senior Manager Regime.

The Co-op Credit Union - Chief Executive Officer

The Co-op Credit Union serves members working in co-operative organisations across the UK. It has over 8500 members and assets of over £5m and is based in Manchester. It is regulated by the PRA and FCA and is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service. With a new technology platform and a fast-growing membership, the credit union has ambitious plans for growing the business to serve members with attractive and fair priced savings and loans products offering a real co-operative alternative to other financial institutions and especially to high-cost credit providers.

The role holder will report to the board of the credit union which is looking for an individual who can:

  • Lead the team of 7 staff
  • Establish and grow relationships with senior management of the various co-operative and mutual organisations that we draw our members from; the largest of whom is the Co-operative Group in Manchester
  • Provide effective leadership over sales and marketing activities to develop the business
  • Embed the new technology platform into the credit union so that members and the business can fully benefit from the investment
  • Ensure an appropriate risk management / compliance framework is in place
  • And work with the board of non-executive directors on strategy development and delivery
  • To deliver agreed objectives within agreed timescales

Experience of working in a credit union or other financial services providers or the co-operative movement would be desirable but not a requirement. Education to degree level or equivalent experience is expected.
